Sarah Ludford
After working in a variety of fields, including residential social work, theatre, and mediation and conflict resolution, I came across Nonviolent Communication in 2001 as part of a coaching course. I was struck immediately by its simplicity and its power to transform relationships. Nonviolent Communication helps me to be connected in myself, grounded in my needs, and present to myself and others. By focusing simply on creating connection, I can engage in a way that makes space for everyone's needs to be cared for. I believe that Nonviolent Communication is an invaluable tool for creating a more compassionate world. From small children to those in positions of power, I have experienced that going for connection rather than focusing on outcomes creates previously unimagined possibilities. Nonviolent Communication has been a vital part of my approach to parenting and I participated in the Parent Peer Leadership Program in 2009/10.
Since 2016 I have been part of the Conflict Transformation Weave (CTW). CTW works to support people in NVC networks in the UK to live NVC consciousness when conflict arises. CTW is not part of NVC Matters CIC who operate the NVC-UK website.
I have been sharing Nonviolent Communication since 2006 and am a certified trainer with the Center for Nonviolent Communication (CNVC).
